Prestbury Methodist Church
Prestbury Methodist Church began the first Jewels of Hope group in KwaZula Natal in January 2009. This is based at Phayiphini, a semi-urban area on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg. Two Connect groups with five teenagers in each group meet weekly in Phayiphini. Diana Coke wrote: “As we have come to know these youngsters, and worked with them, it has been amazing to see the wonderful growth in their self-esteem and confidence. They take great pride in making beautiful items, and have enjoyed meeting people from many countries who have visited them.” For more information about this project please contact Diana Coke at PMC.JoH@gmail.com
Mustard Seed Society
In October 2005 Jewels of Hope started several groups with a local church partner. These groups have since stopped, but a new partnership has been formed with Mustard Seed Society in Maseru. Lesotho is a poor, but independent country, land-locked by South Africa. Currently this partner has 4 Connect groups with 5 children each.
